Ever wondered what's right out there at the last reaches of space?

It's the Cosmic Microwave Background - landmark evidence of the Big Bang Theory! First discovered by pure accident in 1965 by American radio astronomers Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson (who later went on to win a Nobel prize in Physics for their work). While I couldn't really begin to explain what it actually is here (and really, you're already on the internet, why not look it up if you're interested?) I can tell you that when I think about it, the mottled colours of this yarn are what I see in my mind's eye.

Footfree Squish is my 4ply fingering weight base. 100% Superwash Merino. This super soft yarn is a smidgeon more plump than Sturdy Sock because there's more merino in place of the nylon, and while I wouldn't recommend it for socks, I'd shout it's virtues to the rooftops for every other fingering weight project. That's why it's called Footfree, and of course "squish" is an industry term, meaning "yarn so soft that once you pick it up, you can't put it down." 400m/437 yards per 100g.
